boOst is the Startup Factory for technology and research-based start-ups in Central Germany. It supports start-ups in systematically transforming innovative ideas from science and research into marketable and scalable companies. With programs, mentoring, networks and capital, boOst accompanies start-up teams throughout the entire start-up and growth phase.

Vision

boOst pursues the vision of developing Central Germany into an internationally visible deep-tech startup hub. The close combination of scientific excellence at universities and research institutions with strong industry partners is creating an innovation-driven ecosystem that ensures sustainable growth, technological competitiveness and economic strength in the region. The focus is on establishing a new start-up and innovation culture that systematically promotes knowledge-based start-ups and positions them internationally.

Bridge between science and business

boOst links universities, colleges, research centers, accelerators, coworking spaces, investors and industry partners to form a powerful regional network. This structured infrastructure supports founders in efficiently transforming excellent research into successful start-ups.
Through joint programs, mentoring and direct networking, scientific know-how is specifically transformed into entrepreneurial success - from the initial idea to scaling up.

People behind boOst

Marco Weicholdt

Managing Director

He is responsible for the strategic direction of the ecosystem with the aim of establishing a new start-up culture in eastern Germany and systematically supporting technology and research-intensive start-ups from the idea to scaling. Under his leadership, the aim is to facilitate access to industry and capital, build interdisciplinary teams and promote growth-oriented companies with international competitiveness. With this approach, Weicholdt wants to anchor sustainable value creation in the region and strengthen the startup ecosystem in Central Germany in the long term.

Felix Hagleitner

Managing Director

He heads the Entrepreneurship Education & Startup Journeyer department and is involved in shaping measures to promote start-up teams, networking between universities, research and industry and the competitiveness of start-ups. Hagleitner works closely with partners from science, industry and investors to further develop the Factory's infrastructure and services in a targeted manner. Together with the management team, he supports the implementation of the ambitious goals of significantly increasing the number of knowledge-based start-ups in the region.
